<strong>From April 13th to November 3rd 2019, at Palazzo Baldeschi at the Promenade in Perugia, a story about the late Twentieth century in Umbria through pieces of great artists which decided to live and to work here, for a time or for all their life.</strong> <br> <p>Sponsored by the CariPerugia Arte Foundation and edited by <strong>Alessandra Migliorati</strong>, <strong>Paolo Nardon </strong>and <strong>Stefania Petrillo</strong>, this art exhibition proposes various paintings and sculptures of over fifty renowned international artists: including, <strong>Alighiero Boetti</strong>, <strong>Alberto Burri</strong>, <strong>Alexander Calder</strong>, <strong>Giuseppe Capogrossi</strong>, <strong>Piero Dorazio</strong>, <strong>Yves Klein</strong>, <strong>Leoncillo</strong>, <strong>Brian O’Doherty</strong>, <strong>Sol LeWitt</strong>, <strong>Beverley Pepper</strong>, <strong>Ivan Theimer </strong>and <strong>Giuseppe Uncini</strong>.</p><br> In this region, landscape and memory constitute intertwined values, and many artists have found inspiration for their work here, recognizing themselves on those places, or, simply seizing deeper that identity which they knew how to interpret and to enrich. What emerges is a very rich mosaic of artistic presence, rich in history and occasions of exhibitions, often with a forward-looking patronage. <br> From the wonderful Todi countryside which attracted, among the many, Piero Dorazio and Alighero Boetti; William Congdon, came from New York&nbsp; after crossing all Europe, in 1959, and lived twenty years in Assisi; Giuseppe Capogrossi created murals in the former Capuchin Monastery in Gubbio; Sol LeWitt chose to make his home on Monteluco, in Spoleto, as an alternative centre of gravity from his own American residence. Even Yves Klein in the space of his short life visited Umbria at least five times, leaving his extraordinary <em>ex voto</em> in the Santa Rita Monastery of Cascia. His <em>ex voto</em>, realized to invoke “the great beauty” of his masterpiece, is seen with a wonderful Monochrome left three years earlier in the Sanctuary.&nbsp; <br> These are only some of the special guests that this exhibition will set alongside two Umbrian greats: Burri and Leoncillo, two teachers who both started their research from deep roots in the region's traditional culture, even if their destinies and expressions were very different from each other. <p></p> <p><br> <strong>UNFORGETTABLE UMBRIA. Ne emerge un ricchissimo mosaico di presenze e una storia densa e di occasioni espositive e interventi sul territorio, spesso favoriti da un lungimirante mecenatismo. <br> Attratti dalla splendida campagna di Todi sono stati, tra i tanti, Piero Dorazio e Alighiero Boetti; William Congdon, partito da New York, dopo aver attraversato l’Europa, nel 1959, con la conversione, si stabilisce per vent’anni ad Assisi; Giuseppe Capogrossi realizza grandi murali nell’ex convento dei Cappuccini a Gubbio; Sol LeWitt elegge la sua casa sul Monteluco di Spoleto come baricentro alternativo alla sua dimora americana. Persino Yves Klein nell’arco della sua breve esistenza ebbe modo di venire in Umbria almeno cinque volte lasciando lo straordinario ex voto nel Monastero di Santa Rita a Cascia. L’ex voto, realizzato per invocare “grande bellezza” su tutta la sua opera, è in mostra insieme a uno splendido Monocromo anch’esso lasciato tre anni prima nel Santuario. <br> Sono solo alcuni tra gli ospiti illustri che in mostra vanno ad affiancarsi a due grandi umbri: Burri e Leoncillo, due maestri che, pur tra loro così diversi per linguaggio e destino, hanno entrambi avviato la loro ricerca da un profondo radicamento nell’antica cultura della regione. <br> <br> <strong>UNFORGETTABLE UMBRIA – L’arte al centro fra vocazione e committenza</strong> è dunque una preziosa occasione anche per scoprire o ripercorrere gli itinerari di un’arte contemporanea capillarmente diffusa nella regione, spesso in suggestivo dialogo con il tessuto dei centri storici o gli scenari unici del suo paesaggio. <p></p> <p><strong>Orari di apertura</strong>: dal martedì al giovedì: 15.00 – 19.30<br> <strong>Info e prenotazioni:</strong> tel. 075 5734760 (in orari di apertura museo, dal venerdì alla domenica: 11.00-13.30/14.30-19.30)<br> <a href="http://www.fondazionecariperugiaarte.it">www.fondazionecariperugiaarte.it&nbsp;</a></p>
