<strong>From 27 to 29 September, Gualdo Tadino relives the ancient Palio of San Michele Arcangelo, better known as Giochi de le Porte. In the three days preceding the challenge, the city immerses itself in a typical medieval atmosphere.</strong> <br> <p>The last weekend of September, the <strong>four city districts of <a href="https://www.umbriatourism.it/en_US/risultati-ricerca-semplice?ih=gualdo+tadino">Gualdo Tadino</a></strong> face each other to obtain the victory and the privilege of burning the effigy of the “<strong>Bastola</strong>”, the one who would have set the fire that destroyed the town, according to the story.</p><p></p> <p>The streets and squares are alive with the colors of <strong>the “Doors” of San Benedetto, San Donato, San Facondino</strong> and<strong> San Martino</strong>.</p> <p>The Games start with the exchange of gifts between the “Doors”, the performances of the flag-wavers and the musicians of Friday. In the meanwhile, the taverns welcome guests by offering typical dishes and specialties.</p> <p><strong>Saturday</strong> is the day of a <strong>spectacular historical procession</strong> during which <strong>more than a thousand participants</strong> pass through the streets of the city <strong>in fifteenth-century period costumes</strong>, bringing the town back to the Middle Ages among <strong>witchcraft, music, arts and crafts of past times</strong>.</p> <p><strong>Sunday</strong> is dedicated to the long-awaited <strong>games between the “Doors”</strong> which face each other in four different competitions that culminate in <strong>the donkey (without saddle) race</strong>.</p> <p>A real party that arouse a crescendo of emotions until the last game which ends in the general rejoicing for the burning of a gigantic puppet depicting the Bastola, the indomitable witch and the worst enemy of Gualdo, as the legend goes.</p> <p>For information<br> <a href="https://turismo.tadino.it/event/giochi-de-le-porte/">turismo.tadino.it</a></p> <strong>Dal 27 al 29 settembre Gualdo Tadino rivive l’antico Palio di San Michele Arcangelo, meglio noto come Giochi de le Porte.
